Places to treat your dad on Father’s Day in the Peak District

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we thought we’d give you a couple of ideas on places to treat your dad. And since every dad is unique, our recommendations cover almost every interest you could think of within easy reach of our luxury holiday cottages in the Peak District.

The local brewery

Does your dad have a special place in his heart for craft beers or ales? Take him on a brewery tour! The Peak District is lucky to have quite a few amazing breweries dotted around, and some even let you have a go for yourself. Some fabulous ones are Wincle Brewery, Peak Ales Visitors Centre, and Thornbridge Brewery.

At Wincle Brewery, you can expect a fully guided tour of their award-winning brewery, followed by a tasting session. Tours are held every Saturday at 2pm and cost just £10 per person. There are also some lovely walks in the area so you can enjoy a lovely stroll after the tour.

Peak Ales Brewery offers you the chance to learn all about the brewing process. You’ll learn which raw materials are used and why, and hopefully come away from the experience with a much greater knowledge and appreciation for a good pint.

Want a keepsake of your day? The Thornbridge Brewery tour includes the tour, 3 halves of their tasty beers, plus a branded glass to take home with you. Tours cost £10 per head for adults and just £3 for those aged 5-17. Available dates are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 3pm.

The golf course

Treat your dad to a day out on the green at Cavendish Golf Club in Buxton. Visitor prices are very reasonable for the quality of the course and you’ll be able to relish in the stunning countryside views while you play. Just be sure to check the club rules before your visit.

The cycle trails

One of the greatest selling points of the Peak District is its many varied cycling trails. And if your dad is an avid cyclist, we’re sure he’d love nothing more than to explore the Peak District on two wheels.

We recommend Monsal Trail and Tissington Trail if you’re looking for a comfortable ride with stunning views. And if you don’t fancy lugging your bikes around while on a weekend away, there’s always the very useful Parsley Hay cycle hire centre.

Go Ape

For the active dad, Go Ape is the ideal place to zip, glide and climb around for the day. Feel the adrenaline rush from 1,200ft high and leap from the summit in a death-defying display of courageousness (they also have ‘calmer’ bits for those that just want to test the waters).

Longshaw Estate

For a day out in nature, why not visit Longshaw Estate? You’ll have hours of fun exploring the beautiful grounds and it’s great for little ones. There are 3 circular walks mapped out for you, each with something different to offer, and there’s an on-site café for drinks and nibbles.

Hardwick Hall

Enjoy the beautiful grounds of Hardwick Hall this Father’s Day. You could treat dad to a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant, stroll along the woodland of Lady Spencer’s walk, or delve into the furthest reaches of the estate. It’s a fabulous option, whatever the weather.

Ilam Park, Dovedale and the White Peak

Full of gorgeous natural views and walkways, you’d be hard pressed to find a prettier part of the Peak District than this trio of destinations. Ilam Park is set between limestone hills and provides you with unbeatable views of the Peaks. Dovedale, a natural limestone valley, is equally stunning and has an abundance of rare flora and fauna.

Have a wonderful Father’s Day!

To everyone staying at our luxury holiday cottages and caravan site this Father’s Day, we hope this blog has helped you to decide the perfect way to spend the day.

Caxterway Cottage
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to you.  We all had a fabulous weekend at Farditch Farm.  The cottages were perfect and the photos on the website do not do them justice at all.

Everyone in our party commented on the cottages. So thank you, again for the help that you provided.
